Lisbon food tour

What a wonderful way to start your adventure of old downtown Lisbon. Our friendly tour guide Joao Martins was very knowledgeable of Portuguese history and the food was a delicious experience of Portuguese cuisine. I highly recommend giving this tour a try.

We had a wonderful walking tour of Belem led by guide Joao who generously shared his exceptional knowledge of the area as well as information an out Portugal, its history and also about the life of the Portuguese. A real treat which we would highly recommend.

excellent tour with Joao

excellent walking tour, if a little taxing on my ageing legs. Lots of steep hills. Be prepared. Good informative history. Great architecture, and views. some intriguing connections to Freemasonry. best to go early to avoid the crowds. This time of the year (March) was also cool. I can imagine how less enjoyable it might have been were it summer and hot and sweating up and down the hills, plus the hordes of tourists.

Helps is you know just a little of the history. A very good podcast is ‘the rest is history’ with Dominic Sandbrook and Tom Holland, and go to the 4 part Portugal series starting in May 2022. very funny and informative and gives the Sintra tour some context.
